ARUNIM undertook the research for the paper bag project for which we linked up with two management schools – MITI, Pune & Times School of management. A group of students from both the colleges helped us in doing the market survey for paper bag project in two aspects:

  • Market demand of paper bags
  • Automated paper bag machines

Paper Bag pilot project – Market Survey

With reference to the proposed strategic roadmap for ARUNIM, the following sections report the initial findings of the pilot project on the paper bag business.

Paper Bag market survey findings

The paper bag industry in NCR has a large number of manufacturers and dealers from the organized as well as unorganized sectors. Both commercial as well as non-profit organizations have been involved in manufacturing and marketing this product either through open market outlets, exhibitions, fairs etc or through tie ups with other agencies.  The market environment has a high degree of competition thereby calling for a high degree of differentiation or marketing to a niche segment based on one’s own existing core competencies / skill sets.

Paper Bags

There is huge Market Demand of alternative bags in Delhi because of the following reasons:

  • Ban on plastic bags (below 20 microns)
  • Very heavy fine on usage of plastic bags
  • Opportunity for introduction to automate paper bags process
  • NGOs are preferred and being promoted for sourcing by government as well as corporate

And ARUNIM is empanelled with environment ministry which is a good opportunity for us to tap the bulk orders being given by environment ministry.

These paper bag making machines consist of the following units:

  • Unwind Unit for paper reels, with side adjustment, and tension control arrangement with hand brake.
  • Pasting Units of side seam and bottom.
  • Bag Cutting Device.
  • Pressure Rubber Rings on the steel rolls as it fed to delivery drum.
  • Rotary Drum Delivery with deli very board to stock bags.

In the same machine, printing equipment can also be added, if a printing unit attachment is required. Flexo printing is usually used for printing of paper bag making machines.

Technical Features

  • Base is sturdy built with heavy duty cast -iron bed.
  • Machines are of rigid and robust construction to avoid vibration.
    Heavy duty and high speed machines with automatic roller driven system, ball bearing type.
  • All parts arranged in a most accessible way, making operation and adjustments simple and quick.
  • Very little wear and tear of machine parts though machines are for enormous output
